BASIC KNOWLEDGE ABOUT CASSAVA CULTURE AND

THE EXPERIENCE OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF MARI-PB AND THE REGION

We are a family owned and operated business.

Cassava is a plant of Brazilian origin. Its culture is one of the oldest and most traditional. It was already cultivated by the Indians, at the time of the discovery of Brazil. It continues to be explored throughout the Brazilian territory, in all South and Central American countries and in the Antilles.

In other regions of the world, with a tropical and subtropical climate, they also grow cassava, mainly in Java, the Philippines, Ceylon, Thailand, much of Africa and Madagascar.

We are a family owned and operated business.

The crop employs about two million people considering the entire production chain (MDA, 2005).

Produced in practically all of Brazil, cassava has been gaining space in gastronomy.

We are a family owned and operated business.

In restaurants in São Paulo, tapioca, served in different ways, has been gaining space. This demand has driven product prices.

Currently, Nigeria is the world's largest producer of cassava and African countries stand out in root exports.
